The goal

The aim of the workshop is to provide researchers with an overview of AI tools that might be of interest for their work as well as the potentials and limitations of such tools. After the workshop, participants should be able to make more informed decisions about which AI-based tools they can use for their work and what they should consider when choosing and using them.

The guiding questions

What (types) of AI tools exist that researchers can use for different steps in their work?
How can researchers choose AI tools for their work?
What are the benefits of using AI (tools) for different research tasks?
What are challenges and potential risks? And how may these be addressed?

The implementation

The workshop will be a combination of lecture parts, demos of selected tools (e.g., for literature search and article summaries), and dedicated room for discussion and questions.

The instructor

Dr. Johannes Breuer is a senior researcher and team leader at GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, Department Computational Social Science in Cologne, Germany. His background is in psychology and communication science. He has previously published articles and given various lectures and workshops on the use of AI (tools) for research
